Before kids, around this time of year I would start planning fall-inspired dinners.  This would mean getting family and friends together to sip wine and catch up (and maybe indulge in a little pumpkin cheesecake).  These days, and 3 kids later, I'm trying to find creative ways to hide butternut squash in their meals, bake healthy snacks and figure out what to do with the 5 lbs of apples we picked.  Either way, it seems many of us are spending more time at home.

So in the spirit of a happy home, we have put together a collection of our favourite everyday home essentials.  All made in Canada, handcrafted by passionate makers, and made in small batches.

1. Banquet Atelier & Workshop | Tea Towel
Anyone else have a thing with textiles? From the prints, colours and textures, what's not to love? These tea towels are exceptionally beautiful. With each wash they become softer and more absorbent. Their design is inspired by the natural beauty of Vancouver, British Columbia.  The founders, Sarah and Tammy, design and screen-print all their textiles, stationary and notebooks.

2. WOODLOT Recharge Candle
Whether you are home relaxing or cooking, there is something soothing about having a candle on.  Here's why you need a Woodlot candle over any other candle.  Woodlot candles are eco-friendly and made with renewable coconut wax. Their cotton core wicks offer a natural, no-soot effect which means they burn clean and beautifully.  Did we mention they are hand-poured in Vancouver? I know, it doesn't get any better.

3. LOVEFRESH Lemon Verbena Wash
Quite possibly one of my most favourite products.  Every scent is beautifully created without being overpowering.  These washes are all natural and free of harsh detergents.  They are so gentle you can use them on your little ones, which is exactly what we do.  Who needs multiple bottles crowding up precious shelf space.

4. LOVEFRESH Lemon Verbena Lotion
A great wash needs an equally great side-kick.  Rich and super hydrating with a subtle scent that lingers. No doubt it will be your favourite hand and body cream.

5. Pamuk & Co. Turkish Towel
Did I mention I love textiles? This particular textile is practical, beautiful and so versatile.  Besides being the best beach towel out there, it can also be a bath towel, throw blanket, shawl or yoga mat.  Its the perfect travel companion, light weight and super fast drying.

Stay tuned...we will soon have some exciting news to share (skin.to.skin.goods x pamuk & co.)

6. March 8 Studio wooden coffee spoon
A wooden spoon brings a rustic, homey feel to any kitchen.  Especially when that spoon is handcrafted in Calgary, Alberta and can mix your morning coffee.  Quality, design and craftsmanship meet at March 8 Studio. If you love spending time in the kitchen, check out this beautiful studio on Etsy to add some character to your kitchen accessories.

LOVEFRESH is a Toronto-based skincare and beauty line founded by the talented Stacey Davis.  This Lemon Verbena wash is a personal favourite in the kitchen.

WOODLOT creates home & body products made with care from simple, quality ingredients.  Their clean, simple design is a sure match in any home.

In case you are looking for a delicious home-made granola recipe I am including one here.  My sister-in-law had whipped up a batch when we went to visit her in Vancouver years ago.  It has since become a staple and my go-to granola recipe. It's also toddler and kid-approved! Visit Lottie + Doof for more fall cooking/baking inspiration!

3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 cup raw pumpkin seeds
1 cup raw sunflower seeds
1 cup shredded coconut (unsweetened)
1 1/2 cup raw pecans, very coarsely chopped
3/4 cup quality pure maple syrup
1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 cup packed light-brown sugar (or minus altogether)
1 1/2 teaspoons Kosher salt

Preheat oven to 300°F

Place oats, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, coconut, pecans, syrup, olive oil, sugar, and salt in a large bowl and mix until well combined. Spread granola mixture in an even layer on a rimmed baking sheet. Transfer to oven and bake, stirring every 10 minutes, until granola is toasted, about 45-55 minutes. It should be nice and golden brown.

Remove granola from oven and season with additional salt, if desired. Let cool completely before serving or storing in an airtight container for up to 1 month.
